Beautiful city but a bit of a tourist trap... expensive and very busy.Venice, Venetian Riviera, Italy Rating: 5/10 Submitted by: Colin Date of travel: 11/07/2001
I had to take a trip to Venice to see what all the fuss was about but I'm not really into getting about by boat all day long... Plus, there was an unpleasent smell most of the time and it was so expensive as well. Although I did take a Gondolier ride and that was somthing to talk about. Other than that I would rather go on a beach holiday anyday! Yes it was romantic, but i'm not into all that. Not saying it wasn't a nice place but some places are not for everyone.Venice, Venetian Riviera, Italy Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Harry Date of travel: 20/08/2005
I took my girlfriend to Venice and she's now my wife! What an amazingly romantic city! Although VERY expensive (cup of coffee in St Marks square cost 8EUR!!!) we had the most amazing time. Our hotel was really nice. Basic but clean and airy with great views over the city.
I had the best seafood risotto I've ever tasted in a little restaurant that opened out into an internal courtyard with vines growing overhead intertwined with fairy lights. It was perfect. And there was a sports bar so I didn't miss any football.
Gondola's are very cool!
One downside was that the baking summer heat boiled the canals to steaming point creating a rather unpleasant smell in the afternoon.... but nowhere's perfect!Venice, Venetian Riviera, Italy The Gondolier Ride! Rating: 10/10 Submitted by: Date of travel: 17/07/2007
I absolutely loved Venice apart from the fact that it smells funny in some places it's a very nice city with intricate streets. Make sure you take a few snaps at St. Marks Square. The bus boats are great for getting around and no trip to Venice is complete without a Gondolier ride! |
