Venetian Riviera, Italy pra'delle torri caorle

Rating: 8/10

We have just spent ten days at pra'delle torri holiday park in Caorle. We stayed in a mobile home with air con and decking and really enjoyed our holiday. It was 24 degrees and we only had one rainy afternoon. The swimming pools were crystal clear and there were trees for shade on the well kept lawns around the pool area. The beach was a ten minute walk from 'base' and there was a huge choice of activities on site from mini golf and a huge golf course to well maintained football and games areas and baseball nets and baskets to practise shooting goals. There was a bicycle hire which we took advantage of and spent two days cycling the lovely safe cycle tracks which were provided and kept in pristine condition all over the Caorle area. It is very level and so easy to get around. It was also possible to hire surrey cycles and they were often seen around the site We ate out most evenings and the food was expensive for what it was approximately 10 euros for a dish of pasta with a sauce i.e garlic and chilli and 5 euros for a tiny bowl of salad but was quite tasty and well presented and the restaurants we went to were clean. There were not enough toilet facilities in the area and to use the public toilets if there were any was one euro fifty!! It seems to be usual practise to have a coffee and use the facilities provided by the cafe not always convenient!!. We found Venice crowded dirty and disappointing. I relly wanted to look around the cathedral in St marcs square but the queue was two hours long. Maybe we were there at the wrong time but it was far two busy to feel relaxed and enjoy our visit. We also found the venetian shopkeepers very unfriendly. We had a thunderstorm and torrential rain during the afternoon of our visit and were asked to move on twice as we tried to take shelter under awnings outside different shops. My advice would be don't risk organised coach trips if you can avoid it because we also spent 4 hours in a traffic jam in our coach during the journey back to the campsite. We think Venice is best visited and explored by staying in accomodation in Venice itself. Maybe a two centre holiday would be good. We will definitely be going back to caorle at that time of year though. A lovely relaxing holiday.

Beautiful city but a bit of a tourist trap... expensive and very busy.

Nice resort with something for the whole family – very popular with English and German tourists. The beach is very long and sandy, and nightlife great. A good sightseeing base as Venice is just a boat ride away.

This is one of the best holiday spots ever! I was particularly impressed with how clean the beaches were and how family friendly the whole place is. The whole resort is ideal for those who just want to lounge around the beach all day and work on their tan, get a massage or just read a book. The food is splendid and if you get bored of the beach you can go into town and do some shopping.

Venetian Riviera, Italy Avoid in August if possible

I went to the Venetian Riviera in August and let me tell you that it was fantastic the weather, the people and the food all complemented each other. The beach was clean and although there was a lot of sand it was really hard to see it because the beach was just so packed. If you want a spot you better get up early and mark your territory as the beaches over there fill up fast and they stay that way all day. The shopping is classy and the whole area oozes style and you will feel like you are an Italian aristocrat walking around the Venetian Riviera.

I had to take a trip to Venice to see what all the fuss was about but I'm not really into getting about by boat all day long... Plus, there was an unpleasent smell most of the time and it was so expensive as well. Although I did take a Gondolier ride and that was somthing to talk about. Other than that I would rather go on a beach holiday anyday! Yes it was romantic, but i'm not into all that. Not saying it wasn't a nice place but some places are not for everyone.

I took my girlfriend to Venice and she's now my wife! What an amazingly romantic city! Although VERY expensive (cup of coffee in St Marks square cost 8EUR!!!) we had the most amazing time. Our hotel was really nice. Basic but clean and airy with great views over the city. I had the best seafood risotto I've ever tasted in a little restaurant that opened out into an internal courtyard with vines growing overhead intertwined with fairy lights. It was perfect. And there was a sports bar so I didn't miss any football. Gondola's are very cool! One downside was that the baking summer heat boiled the canals to steaming point creating a rather unpleasant smell in the afternoon.... but nowhere's perfect!

I absolutely loved Venice apart from the fact that it smells funny in some places it's a very nice city with intricate streets. Make sure you take a few snaps at St. Marks Square. The bus boats are great for getting around and no trip to Venice is complete without a Gondolier ride!
