New York State is a unique combination of people from all walks of life. Even as a tourist I found many people there that shared my heritage. In addition, it is a big state with big things to do. We visited the heaviest and tallest woman on the planet. Probably the only one whose weight is easily admitted to'the statue of liberty. We climbed all the way to the top and saw the most picturesque view of the city and state. We ate big burgers and big ice cream portions. Uncle Harry tried to eat a big steak under an hour so that he could have a free meal (he could not eat it all). Our plane landed in Buffalo so for jet lag sake we stayed at the Mansion on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. Don't be fooled by the name. The building was tall and the service was nice but the prices were not outrageous. We lodged for reasonable prices. We took a train to Time Square and fell in love with the lights and sights. Trains took us everywhere and since we bought weekly passes, did not take us for too much money. Broadway was thrilling. We saw 3 shows and stood clapping at the end for all of them. |
