A sensational place of history and good weather. I took my family to Massachusetts because of all of the sights and marks of history. The summer time was the best time to go because we did not have to face the hassle of snow or the sweltering heat of the Florida sun. The temperature was quite nice because a constant cool breeze continued through our entire trip. In Salem we felt the eerie feeling of that town of lunatics. The children liked the people who dressed in the costumes and spoke in the accent of those times. I loved how you could ask the employees any question and they knew the answer right away. They knew what century we were in, what the food was like, how long people lived etc. From there we went to the Museum of Afro American History. It was absolutely marvelous. So much history and hard troubles. So many things that we were never taught and that the rest of the world never knew. Another great point of Massachusetts are all of the colleges. Boston, Harvard, Dartmouth and more of a wide array. All of high accreditation and all sights where I would not mind sending the children in their time. Massachusetts great all around especially Boston. Many attractions, all of the must sees and all of them ready to teach.Boston, New England, USA Just as Godd as NY Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Martina Date of travel: 12/11/2006
I fancied a change from the usual holiday destinations in the U.S so I decided to go to Boston this time round and it was a great treat. The city is very historical with lots of great monuments and museums to see which makes sense as it is one of the oldest cities in the country. I was particularly surprised with the really vibrant nightlife in the city; there were so many great clubs and bars playing a wide range of music which was a lot of fun. Boston is a great city to visit and the nightlife is just as good as New York without being as crowded.Boston, New England, USA This City has Everything Rating: 10/10 Submitted by: Jake Date of travel: 21/05/2006
I love the Boston area and here's why: there is never a dull moment for anyone. Do you like Museums? Well hop on over to the Museum of Fine Arts, Institute of Contemporary Art, or the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum. Do you want to sightsee? Travel to the Theatre on Wheels movie tour, the Freedom trail walking tour, Boston Harbor Island and Ferries, Historic Swan Boat tours, of take the Boston Duck tours (I really liked that one). Or do you just want to have fun? Then off to Six Flag New England Adventure Park, Samuel Adams Brewery, 5WITS, and the Boston Common Frog Pond, for you. How do I know about all of this? I went on holiday with 12 people all with different tastes and holiday pleasures. I have seen and done it all and Boston is truly the city of eclectic tastes.New England - Other, New England, USA I Liked it, Do you need more? Boston was an extremely cool holiday with plenty to do and see. If you decide to holiday there, there are a number of locations that I recommend. Please, you must go to the Salem Witch town. Hear the story of how the silly towns people convinced themselves that their neighbors where witches and killed each other. Participate in a fake witch trails. Also explore the Peabody Essex Museum. Even the name has it sounding special. It contains New England's vast history mixed with the regions creative art work pieces. Have a stab at the Fenway Park Tour. It is the oldest park in profession League Baseball and where Babe Ruth set his records. If that does not tickle your fancy go spend a day visiting the other half at the Newport Mansions. There you can see some of the biggest houses not made for royalty and have the feel of Vanderbilt house. I have gone to each of the places and I highly recommend them all.Massachusetts, New England, USA His New Home Rating: 9/10 Submitted by: Delia Date of travel: 13/08/2007
My boyfriend chose to go to University in Boston Massachusetts. Why so far away?I don't know. Perhaps it is because that was the home of his top choice University. On my holiday there I discovered that there was a lot more to this town than the school. I had a superb time taking the Trolleys to different parts of Town. I did not realize that they had Trolleys outside of California. My favorite activity was the whale watching. They took us out for a 4 hour cruise from the Stellwagon Bank to see humpback and finback whales jump out of the water. We would not have believed that mammals that size could jump and turnover so if we had not seen it with our own eyes. Have you every heard of the legendary Paul Revere. He was the bloke who rode around the town yelling the British are coming to warn neighbors to wake up for war. We took a tour of his 19th century home. Limited time prevented me from seeing the other 70 sights that the town offers but I plan to several holidays to visit Charlie.Cape Cod, New England, USA More to do than we thought Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Nigel Date of travel: 03/03/2007
My brother and I did not want to go to Cape Cod for any reason on this earth. It is situated in eastern Massachusetts and sounded dryer than a sun dried tomato. Our parents forced us to go so that we could spend time with our Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. We were down the whole travel there but our family changed our minds once we arrived in the Cape. On the first day they took us to the beach. How marvelous. We never knew beach food could be this good. A touch of Tai food thrown in with a big dessert bar was a dreamer's gift. The beach was nice and had rock formations dividing the shore and the water. The down side was that the water was dreadfully cold and it took our bodies a while to adjust to it. Its name was Nantucket Sound and we were able to see the colors change as the sun set. Cape Cod was close to Plymouth Rock so we saw the ships on which the people came over to settle on new land. They also took us to see other interesting historical sights like the John F Kennedy display. It was not so bad. Ok it was fun.New England, USA A History Lovers Dream Rating: 9/10 Submitted by: Christina Date of travel: 26/08/2005
The New England region is the smallest of the regions in the United States. It is composed of farmland, pasturing animals and a gentle climate. My cousins and I took holiday there to learn a good deal about American culture. Text books say that it played a major role in early American development because it was the country's cultural and economic center. Perhaps ideas from back then can help developing countries now. There was so much history in each brick and each state in the region and we went to each state: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. We visited Plymouth where the Mayflower first landed when the settlers first came over from England. We heard the plight of the slaves and saw the terrible inhumane conditions in which they were treated and kept. We saw the house that inspired the novel Little Women and we visited the Otis House Museum. We saw war reenactments and went to a place that is set up in the manner in which they lived in colonial times. People were dressed and spoke like they spoke. They cooked similar dishes and tended to the animals. They even had children playing the parts. The rich history was astounding. |
