Although we had a good time i feel when you compare it to puerto rico and what its neighbouring island has to offer then it falls well short. Not a site seeing holiday but would be ideal for somone look to lase around the pool with nice weather and a cool breezePlaya de los Pocillos, Lanzarote, Spain Playa de los Pocillos Rating: 10/10 Submitted by: Irene Date of travel: 06/01/2005
I went to the Hyde Park Bungalows in Playa de los Pocillos Lanzarote with my girlfriend in Jan 2005.The accomodation and the weather was fantastic The place was so nice and clean and there were lots of places and things to do. I usually went to Porta del Carmen which i also liked but now that i have been to Los Pocillos i prefer it better. I have got a new boyfriend who i met in Canada last summer and he is coming to visit me in Scotland in April this year and i would like to take him to the Hyde park bungallowsas he has never been to europe and he has spent all his winter snow ploughing.los Pocillos would be the perfect holiday for him to relax and see another part of the world. I enjoyed ever part of my holiday and so did my friend Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, Spain Child friendly resort Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Joaquin Date of travel: 12/03/2007
Costa Teguise is a fabulous place to visit, there’s something for everyone. Plenty of good restaurants and bars, our favourites were Flanagans and the Highlander bar – beware of Shamrock bar its extortionate. Teguise Old Town is worth a visit it’s up in the hills and every Sunday there’s a local market. Tias, Lanzarote, Spain Tias is a Beautiful Resort! Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Lee Date of travel: 21/07/2007
Tias is a quiet area of Lanzarote, nice for just chilling and catching a nice sun tan by the pool. The pool was small but pretty, oyster shape with palm trees all round it. The Kon-Tiki Club apartments weren’t big either, but they are kept very clean and tidy. The reception desk is very helpful, your never kept waiting and the service was very good. The beach was just round the corner from the hotel and across a small road, it wasn't busy and it's safe too. The beach went on for miles, the sea was a lovely blue colour and the views were stunning. It was a very relaxing place, bunch of great people too, everyone were very friendly. The Tias on the waterfront bar is a great night spot, huge bay windows onto the beach, it’s amazing. And there is also a nightclub for the party goers called the ManRay, I was told it’s a great place to party but I’m past all that so I’ll leave it to the youngsters.Matagorda, Lanzarote, Spain Loved it! Cool Holiday! Barty's Bar is a top laugh I defo recommend it to all youngsters out there, pumping music, pole dancers and friendly people too... The hotel was ok, not the Ritz or the Hilton but it was clean and fresh and it has a comfy bed so I was well happy... It was a real good holiday, top laugh... Very expensive in some places but watching the pennies might help! You’ll love it, the families will enjoy the beach for sure.Tias, Lanzarote, Spain Quiet Oasis Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Hayley Date of travel: 02/05/2006
Stayed at the La Geria hotel in the quiet town of Tias. The beach is just across the road and shops, bars and restaurants are a short walk away. The only historic monument is the parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria. Perfect for those looking to escape the bustle of Puerto Del Carmen.Lanzarote - Other, Lanzarote, Spain Lanzarote is My Second Home! Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Rose Date of travel: 06/08/2007
Lanzarote is my second home these days, it’s very peaceful and the local people are very approachable and easy to talk to, they also understand English but not 100% though but it's good enough so it makes you more comfortable. The Hotel Lancelot where I stayed is located 2 minutes from the beach but it’s not a very busy tourist area, it’s quite secluded to a certain extent. The weather is wonderful; as the beach is so close you catch the sea breeze coming through your hotel room so it’s easier to relax, plus the A/C helps too. There is a few local bars, some very loud and some that are very chilled so you can hold down a decent conversation. And the livelier bars and club are more in the centre of the resort. The food is nice, getting more British each year though. Over all, it’s still a wonderful place.Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote, Spain Our personal Spring Break Site Rating: 10/10 Submitted by: Andy Date of travel: 20/03/2007
The best spring break site in the entire Universe. Endless places to eat and dance for very cheap and all of them open late and very close to the hotel. El Puerto Del Carmen was so popular that loads of taxis from other resorts brought people over to have fun times as well. We swam at the beach and had an amazing time in the water parks. Since the beach was only have minutes down the road we were there from morning until night. I snorkeled against my will for the very first time and then begged to continue going after that. The fish swam right next to you. Schools of them all in different colors. After long nights at the discos we were given full English breakfasts in the restaurants for really good prices. The old town was great too. We ate at the harbor overlooking the water and book cheap boat trips on the spot. The boats were good size and took you to see all of the sights on the water. We went twice, one time at night and one time during the day. At night the lights reflect perfectly on the dark water. My anal retentive mate thought that it was wonderful that the resort was always clean and you saw workers cleaning up at random times during the day. All in all everything about the trip was perfect and aside from those of you reading this review, it is our little secret spring break stop.Matagorda, Lanzarote, Spain All in One Neighborbood Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Bessie Date of travel: 19/02/2007
We loved it hands down. A brilliant experience all of the way. The food was amazing and we went to a different location for every lunch and dinner. The hotel was perfect and the staff was the nicest staffs that I have seen in a long time. There was so much to do and to see and not enough time to do everything that we wanted to. The promenades on which to walk offered the most beautiful sites. We watched airplanes land only a few steps from us and admired the perfect landings. The harbor was quiet and romantic and the perfect spot for my husband and me to relax during our quiet time. For the more loud and animated nights we made our way to Puerta Del Carmen. We took cheap taxis there and back and danced all night. Carmen also had great food choices and wonderful people. Back at our resort we recovered from those long nights at our resort in our comfortable rooms. Our resort did offer shopping choices but we found better ones next door in Arrecife. We will definitely be back to Matagorda next holiday. It offers peace and quiet with fun and shopping mere minutes away.Lanzarote, Spain Perfect as always! I took my family here to Lanzarote, we have been before but to a different resort. We stayed at the Playa Flamingo Apartments. They were very bright, clean and airy, with A/C which is a bonus because most apartments don't have those kinds of facilities. If you want to relax and catch the sun with out any disturbances then head to the beach, it’s very relaxing and peaceful and beautiful as well. There is a beach bar and restaurant so you have everything you need for the day. I would say that the night life is a bit too loud for me, you could hear the music from the apartment room and some nights it would be difficult to get to sleep. And some times you would also get the odd person making loads of noise as they come back from a night out. We went to see the castle and ruins in the centre of Lanzarote, now I like this kind of thing but it’s not everyone's cup of tea. The theme park is great for kids; and the grown ups! There are loads to see and do, take a tour and see for your selves. You’ll love it.Tias, Lanzarote, Spain Good, good, good! Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: christopher Date of travel: 19/08/2006
I stayed in the Hotetur Aquarius in Tias and wasn't happy with the hotel rating basically. It was 3 star but I would class it as 2 star as it wasn't cleaned enough and the staff wasn't around when you needed them. Other than that the resort was fantastic, there was a cafe/bar out side of the hotel and they did the best full English breakfast ever. The beach was just down the street and the resort itselfs was totally beautiful. I went to one of the festivals in La Fiesta del Carmen and loved it. And there was also a huge selection of bars to choose from of a night time. Its worth a visit.Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote, Spain I enjoyed every last minute. I stayed in the Acuario Sol hotel with my wife and was amazed with the quality of the service and upkeep. The hotel was like a palace, huge stairway upto the hotel, that was fab. The pool area was also fantastic, palm trees everywhere and plenty of sunbathing space. The beach was beautiful, with golden sand and clear blue sea. There was a selection of shops, bars, restaurants, clubs, duty free shops, everything. Plus there were a few tourist stalls along the strip as well. We visited the Sunday market in Teguise which was smashing, I love snooping round and finding bargins. In the evening we enjoed walks along the beach, karaoke and live music show which was superb. Puerto del Carmen is a great place to holiday with out a doubt.Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, Spain A bit to quiet for me. Rating: 6/10 Submitted by: Anthony Date of travel: 24/09/2006
Puerto Calero was a bit to quiet for me, I wanted a peaceful and relaxing holiday but this was taking the biscuit. The "Millionaires" harbour was tremendous, makes my littel boat look like a pea! There was a couple of yachts up for sale but they were out of my price bracket. (4 million euros and 7 million) nice! The beach was basic, sun loungers, pedal boats, boat rides and the usual bars, shops and restaurants. The Dolphin museum was good and the Yellow Submarine was cool as well. Puerto Calero is a place for the older couples looking for peace and quiet to the full.Playa de los Pocillos, Lanzarote, Spain Playa de los Pocillos is cool. Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Kevin Date of travel: 10/05/2007
I quite liked Playa de los Pocillos even tho my girlfriend thought is was p**! We got to know another couple who was from the UK so that made the oliday a bit more exciting. When we arrived the 1st thing we did was sleep, we never even unpacked or even explored out hotel which was gorgeous. But that still never made my girlfriend happy. The resort was liveley and it had a great atmosphere, some resorts i've been to have had so much trouble with groups etc and this resort was relaxed but fun. The beach was 2 minutes from the hotel and there were activities such as go-karting and wind surfing, and drinking competitions of an evening. I really enjoed myself.Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Spain I was a bit disappointed. Rating: 6/10 Submitted by: Sue Date of travel: 11/08/2006
Playa Blanca was not my cup of tea, very over rated and full of brick a brack, and junk shops. On an evening when Me and my friend was having a meal, we were aproached by locals trying to sell rubbish, this wasn't the first time it happened and it got beyond a joke in the end. We was also told to go to the Powerhouserock Bar as it was a top laugh and you would really love it, but when we got there it was boring to put it bluntly, it was full of drunk tourist and you could not move with all the people around. I can say that the food was delicious and the hotel we stayed in was peaceful so thats a bonus.Matagorda, Lanzarote, Spain Locals are not very friendly. Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Jonathan Date of travel: 15/07/2006
Matagorda is a great resort but the locals are not very friendly and its not as cheap as other resorts in Lanzarote. Most of the shops were over priced and they were not very helpful either. Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Nautilus Bungalows and thought they were very pretty and clean and the staff were ok considering. The beach was perfect, had the usual water sports and plenty of restaurants close by. In the evening we went to Scarlett's bar and that was a fun night, every night was different and the beer was quite cheap as well.Costa Teguise, Lanzarote, Spain Costa Teguise is a wkd resort. I stayed in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote with my wife and 2 children. I found the resort very busy and cramped with tourists every where but it was a great location. The hotel we stayed in was called Barcelo La Galea, it was everything me and my family hoped for with a balcony, 2 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge area and family sized bathroom, the hotel staff were very loveley too. The Pool was beautiful but we would spend most of out time exploring and going to the beach. There was plenty of activities for the children and out selves which was perfect. In the evening we would go for a family meal, followed by a few drinks in the local bar. I really liked Costa Teguise resort and we love to go again at some point. It's a nice family resort with everything you need, from shops, bars, cafes and restaurants and great entertainment.Lanzarote, Spain Cool... Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Leah Date of travel: 23/07/2006
I went to Lanzarote with my best mate and thought is was cool. We stayed at the La Penita Apartment and found it fantastic. We clubbed most of the holiday away and lounged on the beach all day long, sometimes going on the banana boat to cool us off. The hotel had a music night and BBQ evening too which was nice but the main entertainment was in the main bars and clubs.Lanzarote - Other, Lanzarote, Spain Rating: 7/10 Submitted by: Peter Date of travel: 22/06/1994
I really enjoyed my holiday in Lanzarote, it wasn't to busy and not to quiet either, just perfect... I stayed half board so getting a juicy breakfast and an evening meal was great. I spent most of the day touring the resort and then sunbathing by the pool side with a nice refreshing beer. Then in the evening I would go to the bars across the sea front and relax, somtimes get involved in the activities but mainly watch the fun instead. The white sandy beach was nice, with a choice of watersports to choose from and a nice restaurant bar close by, and to top it all off was a boat trip around the island and that was brilliant. |
