My family is originally from Grenada so I went there for holiday since I have never been. I had family there so I did not stay in a hotel and was better able to enjoy other fun things that required money. When I was too far away to eat auntie's cooking, I ate at the local restaurants. Coconut pie at Coconut Beach was addictingly good. My cousins took me there for the excellent food at excellent prices. We ate to the sunset on Grande Anse with our feet dug under the sand. You can do that sort of thing in the Caribbean. My cousins also to me to market to buy things reasonable. I got hats, unique sandals, beads and the coolest island gear around. I got to see everything that tourists see and usually do not see. I saw open market in a small town of animals, food, materials, and candy. I danced at real island dance clubs with performers who grew up in the small towns. I liked very much all of the beachside, tours, and shows that they show to foreigners. But if you are ever in Grenada, hire a local man to show you the backside of town. Pay his wife to cook for you and tell him to take you to town market. You will have a better time. |
