Gran Canaria is a nice place but the weather wasn't as warm as expected, I know it was late in the year but I hoped for a hot holiday and not a wet holiday. A couple of the days were nice but the rest were miserable. Shame really as the resort was very nice and lively. There wasn’t much going on either, properly as it was near the end of the season. It’s a great place though considering.Gran Canaria, Spain Carnaval Fiesta Rating: 9/10

Can I just say that Gran Canaria made a fantastic holiday! This island is so small that you can drive around it entirely in one day but the people have packed so much in it that there is something to do every second. The people are mega friendly and take pride in what they do. It all was top notch from the food, hotels, beaches, bars, and caf's. The people really look after and care for their island. And you KNOW I went out in the water and even entered the Jet Ski competition. I lost but it was so nice for the island girls to give me a hug and tell me how the men cheated (they really didn't it was just nice to say). I intentionally went in time for the carnival. Tickets were a little more expensive because of that but the extra money was worth it. The costumes were gorgeous and I brought replicas home for me. Men standing on stilts, feathered crowns 50 meters high and the best music under the sun. At the carnival I got so see the Festival of Ballet with performers from the U.K., U.K., France, Africa, and Holland. I was an audience member of the Spanish Light Opera, my favorite ever. My villa was small, cute, comfortable, and at times I wanted to stay sleeping in the comfortable bed. |
