Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA Reviews View Cheap Holidays To Fort LauderdaleFort Lauderdale, Florida, USA A True Holiday Rating: 8/10 Submitted by: Mark Date of travel: 19/11/2005
It is said that most people only come to Fort Lauderdale to retire and I can see why. Retirement is supposed to be for your enjoyment. It is a time after work that you have earned to merely relax and spend your leisure time. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida, you can do so. It is a glimpse of life when you are on constant holiday. I had the privilege to spend two and a half weeks there and came out feeling fully relaxed. It is not a fast paced town in fact it is completely the opposite. Gorgeous houses and hotels, gardens and greenery and an ambiance that told you to take your time and slow down. In Fort Lauderdale I had a true holiday. I did not run from sight to sight after getting little sleep just so that I could see everything. Instead I visited upscale shops and ate at high quality restaurants. I swam on a number of beaches and took a stroll down Las Olas Boulevard to visit actual boutiques. At night the Riverfront is packed with free entertainment of all kinds so I had to go more than once to experience it all. The family and I went to the Everglades Holiday Park and the Museum of Discovery and Science and learned a great deal about Florida history. We also rented a small boat and took it along the canals. We were told that Fort Lauderdale used to be a noisy, tacky Spring Break stop. I am glad we came after the time of change. |
