I must admit that I had a really nice time in Nevada. At first I did not want to go because I did not think it had much to offer besides the girl friends parents and Las Vegas but a little research helped us go a long way. Hoover Dam was the most impressive piece of engineering work that I have ever seen. This man made Dam holds back tons and tons of water from the Colorado River and Lake Mead. It took workers 5 years to construct and is still holding strong after over 70 years. From the Dam you can actually see Lake Mead in all of its brilliance. A truly romantic view indeed and the stage on which I proposed. Nevada is also the lodging place for The Great Basin National Park. In the park we took a tour through Lehman Caves and could not believe the incredible rock formations. What a sight. Surprisingly the caves had open spaces and room for animals and trees that were over 5000 years old. Las Vegas was a must because we wanted to gamble the correct way in the gambling capital of the world. We walked along the strip and explored Downtown Las Vegas. My fianc? and I also spent time in Overton where we got away from the parents and relaxed in a great hotel. We visited the Valley of Fire State Park which is the main attraction of Overton. There we hiked and purchased pieces of infamous the red rock. The amusing part of the trip is that my fianc? had lived in Nevada for over 8 years and had not once visited any of the sights. She said that she had missed out. |
