Now, the World Series of Poker sees thousands of players flood into Las Vegas annually and in 2007, the World Series of Poker was split into of 55 tournaments, all of which offered gold bracelets to the winners.
More than $100 million (£50 million) in prize money is available to winners, surpassing payouts for events such as Wimbledon and The Masters.
