Thomas Cook "confident" on summer bookings

From Thomas Cook News in Tour Operator News
Thomas Cook, a provider of package holidays to Mexico, has claimed to be "confident" of meeting 2008 expectations for its summer holiday bookings in spite of concerns regarding consumer spending.

The company reports strong trading for its summer holidays, with few left to sell compared with last year.

Package holiday-provider Thomas Cook also operates tours to the US, Spain, the Canary Islands, the Dominican Republic and the Maldives.

"We have less to sell right across the group... demand is still outstripping supply, we are set to enter the season in a very good position," chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa told reporters, according to Reuters.

A Reuters estimates poll of 11 investment banks anticipates that the company will report a pre-tax profit of £346.6 million pounds in 2008.
