Majorca, Spain NewsFluctuating pound 'points to packages' Majorca, Spain | 17th of April 2008 | Read or post comments (0) From Majorca, Spain News in Destination News Thanks to fluctuations in the value of the UK pound sterling currency, now could be a good time to book package holidays to the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, it has been suggested.
According to Thomsonfly, as the sterling is currently weakened against the euro it would be better to book holidays outside of the eurozone in countries such as Turkey.
However, for those who have already booked a holiday to Magaluf or Playa de las Americas in the euro-governed Balearic and Canary Islands of Majorca and Tenerife, an all-inclusive holiday could be the solution.
Alan Pugh, head of planning and trading at Thomsonfly noted: "As additional costs in European destinations - food and beverage, for example - would be paid in euros exchanged from pounds, there has never been a better time to book an all-inclusive holiday."
An all-inclusive holiday includes all meals, soft drinks and usually most alcoholic drinks in the price. A selection of watersports and other activities are often included in the price. This would mean that Britons do not lose out on the weakened exchange rate once on holiday.
