Bulgaria 'best for cheap currency'

Bulgaria, Ski Resorts | 17th of April 2008 | Read or post comments (0)
From Bulgaria, Ski Resorts News in Destination News
Eastern European nations are currently the best destinations for holidays in terms of cheap currency, it has been reported.

According to director of Travelex John Nicholas, countries with their own currency outside of the eurozone will make the cheapest holiday destinations this year.

This could include taking Holidays breaks to Bulgaria, New York and Las Vegas.

"Destinations within eastern Europe which still have their own currency such as ... Bulgaria ...are continuing to gain popularity with tourists year on year as holidaymakers ... find that they get a better value for their pound against the local currency," Mr Nicholas emphasised.

Mintel research undertaken in May 2007 revealed that spending in the UK on overseas holidays in 2006 rose by 28 per cent in the period between then and 2002 reaching £23.8 billion.

The research also showed that long-haul foreign holidays increased during this time frame by 41 per cent to just under £8 billion.
